My most enjoyable high school job was working at Caboose just after they opened that store. They had been downtown and moved there and needed help with marking items and placing them on hooks. So one summer I got to work with Dave and the others. My job was highly unusual since most employees were retired people at the time.

I think I would have chosen a caboose without graffiti to represent my business image.

I remember when they demolished the Montgomery Ward building across the street from this Caboose Hobbies. Maybe 1993 or 94. Could hear it all the way in Littleton.
Sad to see it go, it was a great place to stop on my way home after school.

Looks like someone was also trying to be cute with their store hours. It doesn't work. The page is a big turn off to me. I sure hope the store in person is more professional than their website is.

But it's a different name (with the word caboose in it) and a different owner and location. What is just like the original Caboose Hobbies?

At best, the new Caboose has a very, very, faint feeling, kind of like a ghost, of the old store. It's really a completely different place all of its own. It is NOT the mega, be-all model railroad paradise that 500 S Broadway was known for.
I do think the new store will be successful, as long as it follows good business practices and keeps up with things like cash flow, debt management, and internet commerce.  Unfortunately, at least for me, it won't be a "destination" store. Just another hobby shop with a decent selection of Walthers stuff.
Time marches on!

There is a giant vacuum left by CH closing, it's a long way between hobby shops along I-25.

The hallmark of CH was that the huge inventory of almost anything ever produced in recent history. The inventory of PF&S Railway Supply in Pasco Washington is very similar, the floor even creaks the same way. The brass area of Ch was unmatched by anything I've seen or heard of though.
