Model Railroading > Union Pacific turbine on the Grand RoadDate: 04/27/17 10:10 Union Pacific turbine on the Grand Road Author: grandroad My friend Dean Dickerhoof just bought a new N Scale turbine. Since he does not have a layout he brought it over to my house to photograph it on the Grand Road. The photos are below:
1. The UP turbine #7 pulling into Terror Creek 2. Turbine on Terror Creek deck bridge. 3. Splitting the signals. Paul Brennecke Golden, CO Date: 04/27/17 10:14 Re: Union Pacific turbine on the Grand Road Author: grandroad More turbine photos on the Grand Road.
4. Another shot of the turbine #7 splitting the signals. 5. Here the turbine is heading in the opposite direction as it leaves Terror Creek. 6. No. 7 above the depot. Paul Brennecke Golden, CO Date: 04/27/17 10:17 Re: Union Pacific turbine on the Grand Road Author: grandroad Last photo.
7. No. 7 heading toward the continental divide. Thanks for looking. I enjoyed putting these together. The Grande Road is a good looking layout. The Turbine is not to shabby as well! I have a couple of brass 8500's and the Scale Trains units are more detailed and run better that my brass. I wound up getting two of the 'rivet counter' versions with DCC & sound. The A units has a diesel engine sound separate from the B unit and the A unit 's sound is used for hosteling the set in yards. The B unit only has two speeds , idle and full power. That pretty much the way the originals worked as well since there was not much difference in fuel consumption between idle and full power.
There are a couple of the beautiful Overland brass turbines on e-bay right now as people are selling the brass to fund purchase of the few remaining Scale Trains units. About the same as they do on the flats. Woooosssshhhhhhh!!! The turbine sound pitch might get a bit lower, but not so much that you could easily hear it. |
