Anyone have any details on this project, hope they have enough reservations? The flyer says Fall 2017, but you never know if these timelines are really correct or not.

Thanks

Sunset makes both 3 rail and 2 rail engines on each run. 3 rail flanges are larger.

The models being offered are HO scale. Regarding the photos on the website, #2485 is an O-gauge highrail model (deep flanges), #2467 is an HO-scale model (RP25 flanges), and #2487 is an O-gauge highrail model (deep flanges). The O-gauge models are shown to give you an idea of what the HO-scale model will look like.

I wish Athearn would build these. They can leverage parts from the MT's to make most of it. Shorter boiler and frame are the key things. Pilot truck, drivers and trailing truck is the same. I do not have any experience with modern Sunset models but my Athearn MT runs better than any of my old ones.

Today's brass are very smooth runners. Much better than what you may remember from the early days of brass locomotives. Hopefully they will produce the ATSF 3751 in the future.

Their website is a bit difficult to navigate since they have multiple product lines If you look near the top there is a link to the reservation page. You can also click the flyer for information.

Oh that's too bad. I just put in a reservation for 3 units. I would have thought these would sell really well.
