US model railroading is surprisingly popular in the UK. My wife is British born and raised and while we were back across the pond in Dec 2014, we visited a club in Sunderland up north near Newcastle. It was a large club space in a huge loft above a auto garage and it housed multiple layouts, including a sizable G scale layout and maybe 5 or 6 HO layouts if different size. I think only one of the HO layouts was British and all the rest were US style. Many of the members have traveled to the US to rail-fan too. One of them gave us a ride back to South Shield in his American left hand drive Cadillac Escalade! That was a monster car there in England and a hoot to ride in over there on the left side roads.
