Model Railroading > Detailed & Weathered CSXT C30-7Date: 09/17/17 07:56 Detailed & Weathered CSXT C30-7 Author: JUTower I picked up an older Atlas Silver C30-7 in the CSXT "Bright Future" scheme, which would be appropriate for my early/mid-1990's time period.
I added NCE DCC and replaced the lights with Yellow-Glo LED's from Miniatronics. I added an Athearn RS5T-RRO horn, DW plow, MU hoses, antenna, etc, and had to move the headlight to the nose. Used a DA Pyle headlight and a SMD LED with acrylic light tubes. The old "brow" headlight was in a square housing, and this unit had an oval housing, so I used two halves of a bit of heat shrink tubing as a form for some modelers putty. (I am, incidentally, a huge fan of Mr. Dissolved Putty which works very well for me at filling cracks and small holes with a minimum of sanding needed afterwards.) Lots of bits of paint here & there, and a few Microscale CSX diesel data decals, followed by weathering with MIG washes and PanPastels, and sealed with Scalecoat II dull flat finish. Finally, a mixture of DA and A-Line windshield wipers! Enjoy! Date: 09/17/17 08:24 Re: Detailed & Weathered CSXT C30-7 Author: ghemr I think you did an excellent job on that locomotive!

I'm pretty sure that what hearing loss I have is as a result of having that Leslie-5 chime horn on the top of the cab there!
I have an engineer friend that called these (and other dash-7's) 'Bellyrubbers" because those tiny front doors made it almost impossible for anyone of a "prodigious girth" such as he to make it into the cab. Date: 09/21/17 04:22 Re: Detailed & Weathered CSXT C30-7 Author: JUTower DrLoco Wrote:
