Model Railroading > Weathered waffle boxDate: 09/18/17 20:16 Weathered waffle box Author: Jimmies Ditchlights from Grand Trunk SD38-2 6252 illuminate the B-end of CIRR boxcar 2637. The 50 footer, probably loaded with paper rolls, is being interchanged over to local shortline JSSX for delivery tomorrow to a nearby printing plant.
The boxcar is just a simple old-school Roundhouse car, but with the weathering it will blend right in among other more "premium" freight cars that are produced these days. Thanks for looking. Good job on the weathering though.

Its a Walthers car though; The MDC "waffle" was a flattop plug door. Date: 09/19/17 04:26 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: acltrainman Very nice weathering job.
Stanley Jackowski Valrico, FL Date: 09/19/17 04:29 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: SPDRGWfan I've noticed since moving away from California many years ago and traveling to places like Chicago, Buffalo, Syracuse, Harrisberg etc. that thing rust a lot more in the upper mid-west and northeast. That Waffle fits in with those environs!
Cheers, Jim Date: 09/19/17 06:48 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: ghemr Very nice! The car has the right amount of rust and fading to highlight the waffles.......

Date: 09/19/17 18:53 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: Jimmies Stottman and Patch: Thanks for the correction. I appreciate that. The car is second hand, so I guess what threw me off was that it was in a Roundhouse box. But, it was a replacement label on the end of the box though.
Thanks to allfor looking in. Jim Date: 09/19/17 20:42 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: DynamicBrake SUPERB weathering (as usual) Jim. Something that we have come to expect from you. Thanks for sharing.

- Jeff Carlson Date: 09/21/17 11:53 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: RGDave Stellar work! I agree that some decent weathering helps to blend in older kits to the current beauties out there. The vast majority of cars on my Onondaga Cutoff are older kits but each and every is weathered!
Good stuff here Jimmies! ~RGDave http://onondagacutoff.blogspot.com/ Date: 09/21/17 20:10 Re: Weathered waffle box Author: PHall Still waiting for someone to figure out how to model the roofs that have been pushed out by getting bashed by forklifts during loading/unloading.
