spray paint

Are there any good commercially available spray paint cans that are a decent (even sort of close) match to boxcar red? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you looking with a specific railroad in mind or just an average boxcar red? Every railroad had thier own idea of boxcar red.

Call it something close to D&RGW narrow gauge boxcars. Thanks for your reply.

I use Rust-oleum Rusty Metal Primer. Covers well and doesn't seem to react with styrene. It's on the darker side of "Box Car Red".

Krylon Indoor-Outdoor Ruddy Brown primer is a little warmer and also worth a look. Krylon has a really nice tip that adjusts for horizontal, vertical, and diagonal spray patterns.

I have great results with Dupli Color red oxide primer. Levels out, dries quick and is a dead ringer for my Frisco cars and cabooses.

Scalecoat still makes paint in spray cans and in Boxcar red.
