ESU LokSound/LokPilot V4.0 speed step issue
Author: railfan400

I installed ESU LokSound and LokPilot V4.0 decoders in a couple of locomotives. They both act as if the motor gets more voltage at speed step 1 than at step 2, both when accelerating and decelerating. For example, when stopping, the locomotive gets progressively slower until it reaches step 1, then it speeds up, abruptly stopping when it hits step 0.

The same locomotives with different brands of decoders run fine, so I'm sure it's a CV or other setting. I do have a LokProgrammer but am new to ESU products. Thanks!

Try the CV 54 auto BAck EMF adjustment. It is really easy to do, no LokProgrammer required, and ESU has a how to video on the u-toob.

Takes like a minute to do from start to finish!

Thank you! That did the trick.
