Model Railroading > Kitbashing Belt Railway of Chicago caboose #204Date: 11/22/17 20:15 Kitbashing Belt Railway of Chicago caboose #204 Author: bnsfsd70 Well, I recently unearthed this model from a box that it had been in for the last few years and decided to finish it up today.
I had this thing about 90% done before I got frustrated and put it away. Big ups to Mike Tomei for letting me use his spray booth today, his weathering of the trucks on this, and the use of the layout for photos. Anyway, this model started off as an old Athearn, Blue Box bay window caboose. From there, I followed the guidance of Jon Grant's work as seen here: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/66857.aspx The paint was all done with Tamiya rattle cans, and the decals came from Microscale. Other details were added such as underframe piping, air hoses and window shades that were made from bent sheet brass. Thanks for looking, - Jeff Carlson Date: 11/22/17 21:17 Re: Kitbashing Belt Railway of Chicago caboose #204 Author: wpdude Your perseverance paid off! good job!

Nice looking 'boose you put together. I like your ingenuity on the window shades. Thanks for sharing your work. Kent in CArmel Valley Date: 11/23/17 01:39 Re: Kitbashing Belt Railway of Chicago caboose #204 Author: ghemr Excellent workmanship on a style of caboose that's rarely modeled.

Surely, we've all got projects like this that have been put away for one reason or another. Amazing how with just a bit of motivation, I was able to get this thing relatively finished in a day. - Jeff Carlson wpdude Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Your perseverance paid off! good job! There's another one that has been preserved at the IL Rwy. Museum as well, which is where I took detail photos for my model.

Super nice guy. I recall that he restored it as a father/son project. Haven't heard about him in awhile. Hope all is well.
