Athearn blue box parts source

Where is the best place to buy parts for older Athearn blue box locomotives? I need handrail sets for GP50’s/ SD40-2’s/SD40T-2’s and underframes for SD40T-2’s and SW1000/SW1500’s?

Athearn may have those parts in stock. Check their website.

Also consider browsing that auction website. You will likely get a whole shell and detail set for what Athearn's price is on just handrails and shipping.

Don't forget local swap meets! When I was into HO I used to go to swap meets at our local Railroad Museum. I would patiently go through my parts drawers and bag up all my HO parts--especially from Athearn and offer them up for sale. Those bags would disappear within a hour! Then I would take my "winnings" and go over to the folks selling Marx!!!

Call the Athearn parts department. Or, parts@athearn.com address your inquiry specifically to Alex.

They have a ton of stuff in stock that's not on the website.

Remember to ask for ALEX.

If you strike out with Athearn, the auction site by the name of Ihe2005 has a good selection of Athearn parts.
When all other options have run out he has come through for me.

Scroll down to HO Railroad Products, and you'll find plenty of what you seek.
