Customtrax?

Does anyone know what has become of Customtrax? Steve has not always been the easiest guy to communicate with, but he at least has always had a voice mail at the posted phone number. Now, though his site, www.customtrax.com, is still up, the phone now has no message, and he is not answ3ering my emails.

Thanks, another Steve

I just went there, and found that the domain is for sale for only $1,795.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's the end of that.

Try it without the "O" in custom; i.e. custmtrax.com

Thanks, I have done business with him for years, you would think I would get the spelling right.

It's an unusual spelling.

If you want to use the usual spelling and that will cost $1800 you might choose a one off spelling and get a site for way less.

The name & web address aside, what does anyone think of the HO track? Quality? Easy to work with? Cost aside, would you use it to build a layout?

I have used it, and it is quality stuff. Very easy to work with, even more flexible than plastic flex track. One out of three turnouts need a little find tuning with pliers and a file, but that adjustment takes a minute or two. Fortunately, I purchased my whole track plan, minus hidden track, before the prices went up to present list. A #8 turnout was 24.95, same as a plastic Shinohara at the time. He made a great leap when he changed the road bed to a foam rather than cork. Looks like I got very lucky with my timing, as I got the new foam roadbed at considerably lower prices. I want to expand, but can not find him. No answers on phone or email.

Unlike the photos on the site, there is about 1/8 of an inch along the edge of the sloped roadbed that is not ballasted, and one must go back after laying track and cover the exposed foam. But that does not compare to the task of normal ballasting. He uses standard Woodland Scenics ballast.
