Foreground Trees/Foliage
Author: navarch2

At the risk of repeating something people already know about - I am ordering some foreground trees and foliage from Reynaulds, made by this firm....

https://mbrmodel.eu/en/about-us/

Beautiful products....pricey....but very nicely done for the premium spots on the layout.

Wow, trees that are 16" tall, for O scale.m might have to save up for one.

I would love to order, but the website does not recognize my shipping address. I'll try to contact them by e-mail.

Nice find, highly detailed and have to be at the top but pricey. Thanks for the link. I could use some of these trees but on the Reynaulds web store there's no mention of any products by mbrmodels, what gives?

My mistake.....the Reynaulds email I regularly receive had the the link in it to that company. I just assumed they sell that line....they seem to sell everything else on the planet :)

Write the vendor and ask for a US distributor. Please do let me know if they respond....they are pretty good to work with - I buy all of my Auhagen structure items from them.

Those trees are super expensive and obviously designed and priced for the architectural community where price is passed onto the clients. Some of those larger trees go for $123 dollars a piece, not including shipping.

Those trees also look very similar to MRC's JTT tree line which in my opinion are the best in the biz. They are hand built one at a time in Vietnam and are so much less expensive.

The MRC JTT products come in N, HO and O sizes and can be bought stateside for nice discounts. I was looking at the MRC JTT willow O scale tree. 5.5" tall. Looks better and lists for $23.00@. Checked online and they were $18.00@ The MBR willow was 2-4" and was $22.00@. You can keep those trees for sure.

The JTT line is also very robust in its offerings.

They are not the same. I have some of the MBR items- tress, shrubs, bushes. Also have many JTT tress. The JTT items are good, but not the same when you see them both side by side. MBR tress are much more realistic. But, that comes at a price. The MBR items are, for me, used in those special foreground spots where you want a very realistic tree and just don't have the time to make one.

I order them from Germany, and usually wait to fill up a box with the maximum weight for a set price. I don't think MBR items are offered in the US, at least not that I am aware. I wish they were, as well as Polak and Model-Scene, and the Filigranbusche from Silflor. The last item I was able to special order though Scenic Express.

Don't fret, I include my name so you don't need the smart-ass "Dear ?".

When I have the opportunity I can snap some pics.

Hi Bob,

I saw the website which led me to my comments. They are excellent trees but to my eye, they are no better than the JTT products and they are much much much cheaper.

Thanks Bruce

Here are pics of the 51-2312 Maple Tree. Please excuse the pics as I am not really set up for product photography. I tried to include a close up crop so you can see the trunk/branch/leave detail. I would post it full size but can't due to TO's photo size limitations. I also have several of the MBR bushes- similar quality. I attached a picture of their 50-3001 Dark Green. It is in the "Little Bushes" category on the site Bob provided the link for. Looking at their site, I'm now interested in some of their High Bushes and Shrubbery. I did not see them on the other site I originally ordered from.

I have contacted MBR to ask about shipping from Poland to the USA. I am hoping they may be able to "fill a box" at a set weight and cost. It will be expensive to ship, but I am okay if I can max out a box and get some very high quality items. These are for those important close to the aisle scenes. As much as I wish I could use such items for the entire layout it is cost prohibitive (to say the least...). I only have the one tree, and when I purchased the cost was 20.17 Euro.

Thanks for the pictures. The tree looks excellent but no better looking than the JTT products and they are much much less expensive. More expensive does not mean better. Your last picture looks like no tree or bush I have ever seen and you want to spend huge bucks on it?

Bruce

Pictures of some HO trees from JTT's web page.
