Model Railroading > Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8Date: 05/17/18 05:31 Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: brfriedm A good friend of mine who models Chessie in the mid-seventies also is a modern railfan so when manufacturers come out with these Fantasy units for Chessie, he is always onboard. Atlas recently released this unit and he asked me to put sound in it so I did. It was super easy as it has a 21 pin interface and a speaker baffle inside so it took all of 20 minutes to get this done. It received a Loksound Select board.
I installed the mirrors, cab shades, and Kadee couplers. She's definitely a good looking unit. enjoy. Bruce Date: 05/17/18 05:32 Re: Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: brfriedm Date: 05/17/18 05:42 Re: Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: SPDRGWfan Nice colorful looking diesel!
Cheers, Jim Date: 05/17/18 06:26 Re: Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: irhoghead From the looks of that chain, I'm guessing about fifty spins of the handbrake wheel to get it applied!

I almost always have to touch up factory-painted Chessies. Factory paint must be getting better. I haven't seen a "bloody ear" in a while either. I may not be able to resist a C40 myself...

Looks like a boat anchor chain, nice model overall. Date: 05/17/18 08:50 Re: Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: hartrick24 It looks real good, also that part of your layout. Bruce, that bus has been there for a long time is it broke down ? ;-)

I think the kid is refusing to get on the bus while the train (engine) is there. Got to love the Chessie.

Steve, That bus is not moving LOL. I had a dude add blinking lights and even the pull out stop sign the driver initiates blinks and it is wired below and I turn it on during open houses and ops sessions. I shoot there allot as its very well lit and a nice scene with a long view. Cheers Bruce Date: 05/18/18 10:35 Re: Atlas New HO Chessie System C40-8 Author: bioyans Bruce,
What kind of ground cover did you use at that location? The club I belong to is looking to freshen up some scenes, and we were looking at options on something better than the darker green Woodland Scenics "Green Blend" they originally used. Your photos made me curious what product you used. |
