Author: trainwayne Anyone know of an available, american prototype dry bulk trailer, like those used to haul plastic pellets and the like? I want to build a trans-load facility for covered hoppers to truck, but can\'t find anything that\'s remotely similar to the hundreds of these type of trailers that you see going down the road everyday.

Author: gatrainfan What scale are you modeling? There is a company that is called A. Smith that makes 1/48 scale items perfect for "O" scale and they are really nice trucks. A. So your trailer would be the hardest thing to model.

The HO offerings are nowhere close to the american prototypes. There are a lot more of these trailers in everyday use than, for example, cattle trailers, (for which an excellent model is offered) yet no one has seen fit to build a good model of one. I work next to a trans-load facility that nearly always has 30-40 covered hoppers waiting to be unloaded, and these type of trailers are in and out dozens of times a day.
