Noisy Intermountain GP-10

I recently purchased a slightly used Iowa Interstate GP-10 (Intermountain) with DCC but no sound. When I go to run in either direction, I get a lot of motor/decoder noise. Is this a common issue, or may there be an easy fix? I've run other Intermountains with LokPilot decoders, and none come close to the noise level I'm experiencing here.

I have 2 IM GP10 units and both are quiet.

Here's an idea. Open it up and look inside and see if anything obvious is causing the issue. When it's open, u can also see where the sound is exactly coming from.  Bruce
