Across the track detectors
Author: garyj

Hello all,
Our club has a hidden staging yard that is under the layout. We are having an open house in December, and I would really like to have some IR detectors installed and operating by then. I already have six of the seven tracks in the yard filled with trains, and I am going to need at least 21 detectors (entrance, middle and exit). I have an intermodal train with three engines and 37 cars, that sticks out the end of the tunnel (long enough, that I need three detectors on each track in the yard) Do any of you know where I can get some matched pairs of transmit/recieve IR units that will allow me to use bi-polar LED\'s?

I will probably also need some directions on how to hook everything up also.

Thanks in advance!
Gary

See if this will help you for an infrared detector. Click at the bottom for part numbers and wiring diagrams of each style.

Might also click on "photocell train detector" to see if you could use that.
