BMRG Pine Ridge Railroad

Hi all.

A quick grab video from on top of one of the double stack containers on my NS Intermodal train. This was taken during our display at the recent Christchurch Train Show held on the 6th & 7th October 2018 at the Pioneer Stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand. This was the third year in a row that we exhibited at the show, with a slightly different layout configuration each year.

The layout is approx 9m long x 3.4m wide, and consists of two mainlines, with a port facility, loco servicing area, oil refinery and a wonderful city scene complete with a custom Union Station, and many detailed (interior and exterior) buildings that are fully lit. The layout is owned by five private modelers, and is based on the United States area (no set location). Era's change depending on whose got power and rolling stock on the track, but can vary from the classic Big Boy on a UP Passenger, to a Big Blow Turbine, and more modern (SP, UP, BNSF, MRL, NS) power. Layout is controlled with a Digitrax system, plugged into a laptop running JMRI. This is enhanced with a Wifi router, and we can access the controls (incl turnouts) via the engine driver app on our phones.

So enjoy the quick trip around the layout. Excuse the music (Gopro Quik software selected that).

Cheers,

Allister

Great video and you guys have really awesome backdrops and scenery. I didn't catch the number on the UP steam loco in the video but the train looked good.

Nice.  Didn't realize US railroads were popular so far away from North America.

Really fantastic scenary.  Looks like Juniata Shops ( Altoona, PA) background in last scene.  Very well done!
