These cars are assemblies of castings which represent steel castings. There are lots of flanges and lips to capture the prototypes. Given the costs of the molds and the number of pieces which need to be hand assembled the cars are probably not over priced. The total costs may price the models out of the range of many modelers.

An alternative is to find the older Tichy models which have nice details but come as undecorated kits and are hard to find on the used market. There have also been Walthers GSI flatcar models.

Just placed my order for four of them!

With my plans to model the US Gypsum plant in Sperry, IA, these were a must-have.  Hopefully, they, or another run will be available in the future when I can order more of them.
