Kaiser Chemicals Hopper question
Author: SimpleMoMike

I purchased this Atlas covered hopper and I cannot find a photos of the actual cars. I have googled and checked rrpicturearchives with no success. Does any one have a photo or know where else to search? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Older late 1960s paint jobs like that are not all going to be on rrpicturearchives (where most photos are 2000 or later).   Many of the ACF 3560cf cars were leased cars and some schemes short lived..

At the time Atlas did the car, they did have prototype photos of such an ACF 3560 (it wasn't noted as a fantasy scheme or scheme of a similar car) and those likely in the 1969 to 1973 period (car build date shows 1969 and after 1973 the car would have had COTS markings added which Atlas would have done if in photos).

Kaiser Chemicals was a subsidiary of Kaiser Aluminum company and had fertilizer production plants in Georgia (1960s) and later in Oklahoma.  Fertilizer was commonly shipped in ACF 3560s so apparently that company had leased some of the ACF 3560s for their fertilizer shipments.  An online search found the plant in Oklahoma had closed in 1985.

By 1980s the cars probably were back in the ACFX plain gray schemes (like many ACF cars that once had logos of leasers) and like these cars in the same number series of the Atlas Kaiser models (63621 and 63629).

Hope that helps...
