Tacoma Union Station Model - PSMRE Layout
Author: DelMonteX

I'm pleased to announce that the long awaited model of the Tacoma Union Station will be unveiled on the eve of Model Train Festival.

If you are in the area, you are welcome to join us for the unveiling of the model and presentation to the builder, Gail Hendrickson.

The unveiling ceremony will take place at the Washington State History Museum on Thursday December 20th, 2018 at 7 pm.  This is a free admission (after 3pm) day.

Gail has been working on the model for 17 years.  Yes, 17 long years.   It is simply a masterpiece.  The craftsmanship and details are just outstanding.  This has to be among the best HO Scale models ever built.

If you can't get down to the museum, this preview slideshow might give you an idea of it's importance.

After the unveiling, I'll post some photos of the completed model.

Thanks for sharing this. I have never seen the Tacoma Depot in real life but I know that what you have here is a real work of art.
It is truly an amazing piece of craftsmanship. Kudos to the modeler and those who will present it to the world.

Is this done with the carbon printing machine?

Jaw-dropping and stunning!

We were there a few years ago; it's now a courthouse.

Thanks for the post!

ahh, No.   The only thing he didn't build, were the window mullions, stair railings and fence.  These were done by a local company, NW Etch, from plans provided by Gail.  Gail could have done them, but we might have been another  5 years waiting.

Superb video of an excellent model. BTW, for a long time I have come to believe that there is a great market opportunity for improved models of humans in the hobby.

As a long time practicing registered Architect and model railroader, I'm extremely. Impressed
with the coverall level of detail and superior quality of this station model. I'm totally impressed and
look forward to its integration with the track side completion.
