New Moloco cars available now!
Author: kangaroose

Guys,

Here is another set of NEW FGE cars ready to buy and ship. This time we've spread the love east and west and for good measure some much needed TP&W love. You've got to love this scheme along with the others.

This time around the largest fleets of FGEs, ACL and SAL covered. More info and proto pics on the website.

Thanks for all our supporters and to Trainorders to help spread the word.

Best regards, Nick Molo, owner moloco

You might think we're repeating ourselves, but in true moloco fashion, there are actually 8 paint schemes. Each is meticuluosly researched to get return stencils correct and differing lettering and repaint or NEW dates correct from proto photos.

2 sets of ACL
2 sets of SAL
2 different TP&W, not that one has different door markings than the other, along with a month difference in the re-paint dates
1 in the BN, RBBN scheme and,
1 in the GN "Big Sky" scheme, RBWX, checkout our prototype photo of this car in 1984 still in the scheme and still retaining it's outlawed roofwalk.

Also included starting with this run the RBWX car has our NEWEST truck, a 70t Barber S-2-C roller bearings. These will be available soon as a separate item to purchase in both standard tread, 0.110" and semi-scale tread, 0.088". All the other cars in this release have our previous NEW truck, the 70t Ride-Control roller bearing truck.

Note some of the differences between the 2 cars numbers of the RBWX cars, besides the aforementioned different trucks, Barber for the RBWX and Ride-Control for the RBBN. Their extended draft gear had differing draft key boxes, one with the riveting around the draft key whilst the other the more modern large weldment design. Also when you compare the cushioning devices, one carries a Keystone and the other the distinctive Hydr-Cushion.

By the way stocks are limited and sadly we won't be attending the Amherst show in Springfield in a few weeks. So, don't hesitate and enjoy.

Nick

Dear March Hare,

Sadly I won't be attending Springfield this year. So, if you need them order them.

Best regards,

Nick

So what's the chances of getting the WP cars in the future?

WP would be nice.

Nick did run paint only assembled version for those who want to roll their own with decals, assuming one of the four are correct for WP.

PHall,
The tough thing with the WP cars are they are all repaints from off-lease cars. Therefore they are hard to get a common exact lettering scheme for more than 2 cars. There are slight differences between them that MOLOCO cares to get them correct, so no go at this point.

However you can roll your own by buying one of our assembled and painted HC cars and use the decals from ICG decals.

Is it me or are the ladders a different color? They looks like a weird plastic color which stands out against the painted car surface.

This has come up before.  I have over 20 Moloco box cars and the ladders to appear to be molded in a color that generally blends in well with the paint and in person it's not very noticable as other also noted related forum discussions:

Rob Spangler commented over at Atlas: "As soon as you hit the car with Dullcote and weathering the effect almost completely disappears. It's far more visible in the photos than in person too."
