Model Railroading > Sierra Northern S6 Switcher At Work

Sierra Northern Alco S6 409 rumbles off the main track and heads over to switch Valley Canning Company in Loyalton (modelers license). The HO diesel is an old brass unit (Alco Models) that with a little modification slipped right over an Atlas S4 drive. Both structures (Walthers kitbashes) make up the cannery. Industry receives can stock in box cars, tank cars of corn syrup and fruit in reefers. Factory ships out cases of fruit cocktail in insulated boxcars.

Nice scene.  I like the S6.  Don't see too many of them in the model (or real) world.

Nice to know the old Alco Models shell fit on the Atlas drive without too much effort.

Nice modeling Dan! looks like your layout is really nicely done.

I bought 3 Alco models engines and everyone of them went to hell in hand basket within a few months (drive wise).  Several people I knew did conversions on them.  Only way to salvage your money.
