Athearn Genesis SD70ACe w/LED's Flashing Ditch Lights??
Author: BNSF3888

I have a Athearn Genesis (68866) SD70ACe BNSF #9356 with T-2 and LED's. I have almost pulled out what's left of my hair trying to get the ditch lights to flash when you press the horn button. Can someone educate me on how to do that.

Thanks in advance.

William

I don't think BNSFlocos flash their ditchlights, but it's your railorad...

I don't have a BNSF SD70ACe with T2 thou I have a UP one and it has the ditch lights connected to FX3 & FX4 outputs, if BNSF is the the same then:
Set CV 51 to value of 201
This sets FX3 output to ditch light type 1, A phase, Grade crossing active, & LED type

Set CV53 to value of 233
This sets FX4 output to ditch light type 1, B phase, Grade crossing active, & LED type

Also best to set FX3 & FX4 to same Function number so set both 1.259 and 1.260 to same number that matches the function number you want to use, ie set both to 3 to use F3 to turn them on and off.  If factory installed decoder then both probably arlead at F5, if retail decoder was installed then they are at F25 & F25

You will find the manual for the Tsunami2 decoder Athearn uses at this website.

Buy a model of one of the RR's that use flashing ditch lights. ;-)

As others have stated, the real BNSF ones don't flash ... so your model won't either, without some reprogramming.
