bachmann s4 headlight issue

When I run my s4 wth dcc sound forward theheadlight brightens as it should but the rear light doesn't dim and stays bright whether going forward or in reverse. I replaced the led with cover on the rear end but this didn't help. Any ideas? Do i have to replace something on the board?

How is the unit programed?
I have an S2 with sound & DCC & was able to have front & rear headlights on regardless of direction within Decoder Pro.
