This is ATSF business car Santa Fe/Topeka built by Budd in 1955. Car was completely rebuilt in 1990 and the 6 wheel outside swinger hanger trucks were replaced with 4 wheel outside swing hanger trucks. Only problem is the car in this configuration should be letterd for BNSF and have 41 CDO trucks and not the 61 CDO trucks as shown. This is the third run TCY has done of this car.

I always  thought the Santa Fe's convertable rear open platform a very smart idea for a road headquartered in Chicago. Frank

I caught several director's specials in the early 80s as a brakeman/ flagman. By then they had glass end inspection Car 89 and the Topeka and Santa Fe were bumped to mid-train service. Story I got was Mrs Cena didn't like the way her hair got mussied up when walking between cars while the train was moving, thus the invention of the removable enclosures on the open platform.

Hopefully one of the importers will bring out business cars for NS, KCS, CSX, CN/IC and CP

I think it revolved around the hair do's on the Board of Directors and Mr. Cena.  Mr. Cena rode a lot of biz cars in his career.

Are these cars not the prototpe - less the enclosures - to the Kato HO business car? ...they certainly look close.
