Are the steel coils going to remain looking like thread spools? 

Yes, I was surprised by the look of the coil loads too...   Given ScaleTrains excellent product line, I would have expected similar to Tangent's coil loads (which are fantastic).

Such a beautiful coil deck to have to be covered by a coil load that looks... um... too similar to the AHM coil load from the clamshell top gondola model from the 1970s.   And if that is the weight for the ScaleTrains coil car, then how light are the cars when empty/unloaded (to show off that wood deck)?

Scaletrains has said that the loads were pre-production and changes to them are coming.
