Model Railroading > HO Scale CN 100 Ton Ore Cars

Steel Horse Models is in the process of collecting interest in the CN Pine Point 100 Ton ore cars manufactured by NSC. These cars travelled from the Pine Point mine in the Northwest Territories to the Cominco Smelter in Trail BC. These cars were interchanged in Calgary from CN to CP. These were transferred to the Wisconsin Central SSAM division later on. If there is enough interest will would do limited amounts of Ready to Run Cars along with kits. Any more info on the real ones? Interesting design.

Pretty sure I've seen this type used by CN for gravel loads in northern Illinois, although that was a few years ago.

These cars were also interchanged from CN to the Northern Alberta Railways in McLennon Alberta, down to Edmonton, back on CN at the city center yard (no longer existant), interchanged there to CP across the High Level Bridge..... from CP Strathcona they headed South to Calgary then to the smelter in Trail BC. 

Here are some more images of the cars I saw back in the day,

CN 345091 was on the IHB, at their Blue Island Illinois yard on September 1997

CN 345118 was also sitting at the IHB Blue Island yard, this one in July 1997 

The two SSAM ex CN ore cars were on the EJE/WC at Mundelein Illinois in May 1996
