We are building a tree-mendous railway line
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Sub-roadbed of crushed concrete has been laid down, now the vibrating compactor is being put to good use.

More or less same location, main line track tied in but yet to be ballasted.  This location is a passing siding with stub end spurs
for when we play ops (switching games).  We are going to complete the main line, then passing sidings, seen here with track panels
in place but not connected to one another,  then ballast the entire line.

Other end of the passing siding

Next photo is of a 180 deg horseshoe curve, 60 ft radius.

Next weeks work session we will distribute ballast using side dump
and center dump ballast hoppers.  The last photo is a preview of that operation.
More on that next week.  If it seems a bit much for a SD70 to be on a work train,
it is a most useful and powerful locomotive, which is a big help when pushing loaded rock hoppers
up hill (and it has good brakes!)

Track is on private property in East Texas.

May I ask, is this a club or private, what's its name and where is it?  Looks like a good way to build track that will not need lots of attention once it is tuned up. Jeff

It’s a private track in East Texas

Go to that tube video site and type in Windy Ridge Railroad.

Hey, you need to paint the side of those aluminum rails on your model railroad rust color to make them look more realistic... Ok, just kidding. Keep up the good work. I have enjoyed your series so far.

Hey, love the updates and photos, thank you.  I do have a small nit to pick.  The loco is a GE dash something, not a SD.  But it’s ok since you are Wrong, Mr Murphy.  Lol

Nice to see how you aranged the trees along the track, who built them for you?  We could use some up at Train Mountain just like those as some of ours are not in the right place. LOL nice track work as usual. Boyd at Train Mountain

SantaFe dan:  On this railroad you work in the winter.  Springtime is humid and hot.  You can lose 10 lbs a day  sweating and the trees totally block out the wind. But, it sure is a beautiful place with some grades that will make your engine bark loud.
