Just got the Walther's "Flyer" today and it had some interesting stuff in it.  The real question is: How accurate will the delivery dates be?  I'm thinking mybe six months to at least a year.

EMD built a set of demonstrators with the complete SP lighting package and paint minus "Southern Pacific" on them. They were sure SP was going to buy them.
SP didn't buy them, they said they were happy with the SD9's.

Even though SP never had them EMD painted the demo's in SP colors and SP specifications with no lettering.  They were attempting to attract orders form the SP who was their bigest customer of SD9's.  At the time SP was looking for a way to move more tonnage with fewer locos.  After testing the trio SP found that the tonnage rating was not much better then the SD9's and oppted not to purchase any.  The demos were eventually sold to the UP.
Might have to get a couple for demonstrators.

It's just the old Walthers/Life-Like GP60s. And from viewing the artwork, you pay the premium price for the same model without details and plow.

Agreed! I’d like four in NS paint.

If Atlas goes to the trouble of putting the SP light package on the SD24s I would be interested. Less
interested if they don't.  I don't know; does Atlas have someone who monitors TOrders to answer such things?
The artwork they show does not have the SP specific details; but not sure if that means alot. Nothing in the info
either. typical Atlas, with limited info.  LOL.  Should be more like Athearn on the info.
I don't know how others feel about it but I wish Atlas would re-release the Alco RSD12s. Those smaller 6 axle locos
are great for local and 'Hauler' type power.  And are great for folks with smaller layouts and tighter radius curves.
If would be great if they re-tooled it to correct the slightly short  wheelbase. That said, I would buy SP low nose versions either
way, because they really fit my railroad and interests. Still need to come with all the lights like the SD35s I'd pair them with.
