Rapido FA-2
Author: sawdust

Has anybody received Rapido's FA-2, and started it up whit a Digitrax Throttle?  When its powered up with the NCE system, the motor starts as usual; however with Digitrax, it starts with the Ed Sullivan show.  Selecting F8 doesn't engage the engine starting sequence.

Has anybody else experienced this?

The locomotive looks great, and the see through grill is amazing.  Other than that, it's another outstanding model from Rapido

Rapido's FL9 from a while back has the Mighty Mouse Theme song on one of the higher number functions.
You also may remember "Latka" from "Taxi" does a wild version of the same melody.  File this all under
"Model Railroading Is Fun!"   Why Ed Sullivan appears using Digitrax and not with NCE, now that's a question
for the ages!  Stay safe everybody.

My SP&S pair are supposed to arrive Monday. It might be nice if there was an alternative paddle wheel riverboat steam whistle so the steam boat captain and locomotive engineer could salute each other along the Columbia River for the entertainment of passengers.

RE: sounds

Rapido Jason is a mischievous manufacture. He is the only one out there using perception filters but does not have thingamajigs. The sonic screwdriver is the right tool for the job. Check the enclosed owner's manual.

Regarding the Ed Sullivan show when starting on a Digitrax throttle, check to see if any function button are active (such as F15).

SP&S 868 and 869 arrived this afternoon. Both are excellent looking models with a high level of fine detailing. I haven't had a chance to get them to power and KD conversions yet. Update: Never mind about the coupler conversions, the rust colored Rapido couplers are metal couplers. Scratch the face of the knuckle and you will see it is silver. Some weathered black and boxcar red washes will tone down the drawbar and knuckle finish.

rr-photos archives shows 869 in the solid green carbody with side pin stripes and a yellow nose accent.

A check of SP&S on pinterest brings up a wide assortment of roster shots of the FA-2 units. If they are sharing the frame with a GP9, GP7 or an E unit it is unmistakable the Alcos had a lighter yellow than other units. I would say Rapido got it right.

Thanks, Jason.
