Model Railroading > Herzog on the moveDate: 06/02/20 13:55 Herzog on the move Author: MrMRL Captured via iPhone just a couple minutes ago. Three semi-cruddy BNSF units (Athearn Genesis) are currently hauling 24 Hersog Thrall Gons around the mainline at the California Southern Model Railroad Club.
Slightly larger (1200x) pics also at PBase now... https://pbase.com/mrmrl/bnsf_stuff ~ Mr. MRL Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/02/20 18:07 by MrMRL. Date: 06/02/20 14:07 Re: Herzog on the move Author: MrMRL Little more zoomed out, actually shows the 24 car train behind the power. I'm currently brainstorming my approach to fabricating all the conveyor belt ramps on the ends of each gondola, and eventually how to replicate the specialized middle and end cars for actually delivering ballast to the right of way.
I realize the Athearn RTR model isn't correct for the prototypes. But you tell me what's my alternative other than a boat-load of styrene? At least I've so far renumbered the duplicates with some Microscale trim film and number decals, and installed Kadee short-shank #153s to bring them a little closer together. I wasn't about to drawbar all the gons like the prototypes either. Mr. MRL Date: 06/02/20 15:05 Re: Herzog on the move Author: Hookdragkick Nice belt train. When will the Conveyor be built?
Date: 06/02/20 15:23 Re: Herzog on the move Author: MrMRL Few rosters of the power, BNSF ES44DC 7717, SD70MAC 9846, ES44DC 7795. Weathered factory painted/numbered Athearn Genesis models. A few additional details have been applied to the MAC, basically pilot details, air details below walkway, and roof antennas.

Both ES44DCs are part of Athearn's "Primed for Grime" series. http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATHG83132 All I did was add the grime on top of their factory faded/peeled/patched paint jobs. Mr. MRL - but thanks for the credit! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/03/20 10:40 by MrMRL. Date: 06/03/20 11:05 Re: Herzog on the move Author: bnsftall Impressive as usual!

Ah, got it! I'm in N scale now so I've been a bit out of the loop on HO offering these days. |
