RDCs in the Rainbow Canyon Trestle

My very old Athaern RDCs with the rubber band drive replaced with the Earnst gear drive.
The tourists riding the RDCs get a thrill when the train stops on the trestle for a photo op of the canyon.

I had an Athearn Hustler with a rubber band drive.
Times have certainly changed!

Hi Dan;
  Haven't seen old Athearn RDC's in quite a while.  Is the Earnst drive noisy?  I saw component parts years ago and wondered if all the brass gears might be a problem.

Thanks for sharing Dan.

Old Irv from Athearn helped the hobby grow with reasonbly priced models of locos and cars. His models may not be up to today's standards, but we sure had fun. The blue box kits were a snap to build too. And the rolling stock was durable.
