There is a fairly large group of guys in the East Penn Traction Club who are interested in Japanese model trains in N Scale. Their experience is that Kato and Tomix products are often superior in quality than those produced by Microace.  Microace products sometimes crap out while Tomix and Kato seem to run forever. Kato and Tomix are often priced more favorably as well.
