April Fools in April Model Railroader
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Good trick. I'll let the cat out of the bag.  They did a gag about our own
Jason Shron having a full size Via pax car in his basement.

Nice try Jason and MR, but you have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool this old Texan. :-)

The fact of the matter is Jason Schron DOES have a full size passenger car, but not full  length, in his basement.
There was, however, an April Fools joke in the magazine.  As I was reading it, I had to turn to cover to check the
month as this one was really outrageous!

Sorry to sound like the old geezer but..... I like an April Fools joke. I think it needs to be subtle and small. It bugs me that they wasted a half page of possible content for this year's joke. I complained last year when they wasteda whole page of possible content.....maybe we're making progress. I got my issue today, like the WM article!

It's not like they had a 90 page issue and used the joke instead of something more
important. This indeed was a very thin issue and the joke filled a space that might have
gone empty or a house ad.

At first glance, the article has a certain degree of verisimilitude but upon further review...

It was pretty obvious to me... And it wasn't Jason's article.

For those of us who haven't subscribed to MR for years, eventually tell us what it's all about this time.

I remember Moxel Railrfoader's April Fool editions, especially back in the 1060s.
One of the articles was "labels" as the author by  one 'Stentor P. Dillworthy'
I have got to review my 50 year DVD and find that particular issue.

Maybe it wasn't obvious, but my original post was tongue-in-cheek

Actually it IS pretty obvious. As in no more then half way through the first sentence obvious.

Hmmm, model railroading in the 1060s, pre-Norman invasion. Now that would be an April Fool's article, better than the model railroading on the Moon article.

Relax, I didn't mean to insult you in any way. I enjoy your input here on Trainorders. I don't want to be a spoiler, but the April Fools joke is funny too since it is something that Jason would love to do...being a fan of the series. Perhaps "Scotty" could make it work?

Cause people are talking about it here and I was curious.  You make it sound like a bad thing.

There was a second April Fools gag in this issue that everyone seems to have missed altogether. It's towards the back of the issue in the small ads :)

Maybe for those of us that have the magazine, perhaps you could give us a hint?
