Model Railroading > My ideas for a trackside pond!Date: 03/06/21 16:23 My ideas for a trackside pond! Author: Pattenburg When I decided to add a small pond to my layout, I wanted to add some realism to it based on what one sees at times in ponds along a ROW. Keeping that in mind meant adding some discarded garbage, courtesy of midnight dumpers. I added one tire in the pond and two along the ROW (to the left of the stone wall). One of those tires has been there so long it has weeds growing out of where the rime would be. As for the stone wall, that is Chooch's bridge abutment modified with three drainage pipes added to it. The barrels in the pond were cut in half to look as though they had sunk into the mud. I used some rust colored paint to tint the water so as to resemble something flowing from that barrel. My local EPA is still analyzing it to see if it is harmless. Also included on the scenic water was some woodland scenics fake grass to simulate pond scum. Something a little bit different.
