cattle sounds on broadway limited stock car
Author: schneid

I purchased one of these today and I found the volume to be too loud even the low volume setting.  Is there some way to make the volume lower yet?

thanks, paul

Yes, pull the sound unit and say over and over again Moo-Moo!

Piece of tape over the speaker?

Just put up with it for a little while longer. They'll be at the stockyards pretty soon and you won't have to worry about it!

That's a good idea. We use tape over piezo buzzers on PCBs where I work until we are ready to ship them.  Otherwise, the beep is way too annoying for the tester to listen to all day.

Send the car back to BLI, and tell them the problem.

Follow the prototype method. Set the car out at the packing plant and hit each cattle between the eyes with a hammer.

Better question is, why does a model stock car need sound in it?

Cows are pleading for milking, bulls need counseling, heifers want love, steers are struggling with self-identification issues.

I was going to say wrap the speaker in electrical tape. That should mute it somewhat.

Now if you really want to disturb your fellow modelers, replace the cattle sounds with people screaming, and fill the car with people figures. ;^D  ....on second though, maybe not, that might get you kicked out of places.

I had a cousin who worked years ago in a meat packing plant in Pueblo CO.  He was the first guy to get the cow after it was dispatched.  He told me they used a pnuematic piston gun between the eyes.

Ted, I think you're thinking of the FEMA-MAX cars! ;-)

You received a magnet wand with the car.  Pass it over the switch with the track powered.
Each pass of the magnet will increase the sound to the top and then off then cycle over from the bottom up.  Just stop when you reach the level you want.
This is in their instruction book but maybe you didn't get that with the car if you bought it used.
