G scale at EPCOT
Author: wpamtk

While visiting Walt Disney World last week, I made a point to visit the G scale layout next to the Germany pavilion in EPCOT's World Showcase. It takes up an area of about 25x100 feet, with four separate lines each with a train supplied by LGB. I first saw it in 1999 and it contributed to my decision to build a G scale railroad in my own backyard. I'm glad it's still around and attracting attention today.

Pretty cool.  Where do you live?

Years ago my cousin and her husband visited the Washington DC area and they were into G scale.  They arranged visits to a number of places where people were running G scale, including a live steam G engine.  But while the weather here isn't as exreme as some parts of the US, I'd think a warm dry climate would make having a garden railway more practical and lower maintenence.  The last time I was at Epcot was around 18 years ago and I don't recall the G train display at the German pavilion.

Cheers,
Jim

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, prime climate for garden railroading: no snow, no freezes, rain only in the winter (if at all sometimes).
As I mentioned, I saw it on my first visit to EPCOT in 1999, and it pretty much looks the same now as it did then except for a few trackage changes.

California works. I lived in Davis CA from 1971 - 1984 and it only snowed twice and melted the same day. I live in northern VA now so garden RR would have weather issues.

Your snowplow would need to be a working model. And maybe battery powered too.
