New York Central Despatch Shops? It would seem that there would be some roster info out there including the car register books? If you go to the freight car modelers group at i.o, Groups (moved from yahoo groups) someone there should be able to provide an answer.

Edit:

Look here, Log 965 B built by Beech Grove Shops   Click:  New York Central freight car roster (canadasouthern.com) This site is labeled Canada Southern but includes much info on the New York Central RR in general.

According to notes cars were rebuilt from lots 677-B , 692-B,  700-B and 742-B, 1965-1967

Notes from modeler:  CARS BRANCHLINE #1000C - 4/4 ENDS & RECTANGULAR PANEL ROOF - SOME CARS PROTO 2000 50' SINGLE DOOR BOXCAR

It appears that most, if not all were originally built by the Despatch Shops.

CASO was a subsidiary of the NYC. They operated the line across the top of Lake Erie from Detroit/Windsor to Niagara. From the upper midwest and northwest it was NYC's shortcut to Boston and New York instead of having to go through Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Yes, I am aware of that. My point was to inform that there is MORE than the CASO there.

Charls:
Again, joining the steam era modelers group at I.O. Groups might yield you some answers. The NYC cars were rebuilt later but would fit into that group's era. It might depend on how close you want to get, based on photos.

Here is a link to the Modern Freight Car io group: https://groups.io/g/MFCL

There have been discussions on the cars built by the Despatch shops.
