Another mall layout
Author: Bob3985

Starting this weekend thru New Years the Sherman Hill Model Railroad Club will have their traveling layout set up in the mall along with their regular one.
We worked out a deal with the mall to set our traveling layout up in a vacant store space near our regular space for the holiday season.
And one of our members will be operating his Christmas train for the season.

Photos would be nice. I know you folks have some older toy trains. Any thought in using the additional space to run those?
Something us old people remember during the holiday season is seeing the American Flyer & Lionel rushing around in the
department store displays.

Both our layouts are HO but at our regular mall location we have a Lionel display in the window and out in the lobby is a button box for the kids to push the buttons to make the Lionel display come to life and operate. There are the bump trolley and hand cart that change direction when they hit the bumpers and other accessories that operate with the push of a button.

Picture of the wye leading into the main set-up yard and engine facility on the Cheyenne and Northwestern at Frontier Mall.  Also shown are a couple of the awards won by the layout and the sign in honor of Lyne Nystrom, who was a longtime member of the club and a member of the UP Steam Team.  As you can see, the yard allows for the setup of longer trains and allows access to both sets of mains.
