Has Athearn taken a holiday today? This is the last Friday of the month.

You do realize some people take off the Friday after Thanksgiving right? Our TOYS can wait for a day or two. They said they'll update the site Monday.

For what I pay them for toys, they should be back at work like the rest of us!

Obviously it varies. Most places I worked (office jobs) the Friday after Thanksgiving is not a holiday. But I usually use PTO or a floating holiday for a 4 day TG weekend. But I have to request it off in advance.

I always gave all my employees a paid day off the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Maybe the Athearn guys are deer hunting this weekend?

We had a union contract at AT&T. We traded another holiday for the day after Thanksgiving years ago so people wouldn't have to burn a vacation or personal day off.

I always arrived at my store around 5am on Thanksgiving Day, to get the shelves stocked and do whatever else needed to be done.  I'd leave by 4pm, to get home for Thanksgiving dinner.  The next day, I was back in the store by 5am, putting the finishing touches on everything, as the Friday after Thanksgiving was one of our busiest days of the year!  Sometimes, I really miss it.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and that you are all doing well,

Allen Drucker

They did the typical last-Friday reveal of the month's announcements that day! SD70 series (UP (inc. the 1979), NS (spartan cab ex-CR, dashed reflective stripes), CN 75Is, some "Legendary Liveries." Bay window cabooses (SP, SP police, Willamette and Pacific, Western Pacific, modern UP shoving platform), upgraded RTR SW1500s (Cotton Belt, WC, Conrail, BN, WP green, undecs), Genesis 89' flatcars with trailers (HO and N), Roundhouse stuff (trailers, GP40-2s, and oldie tank cars) . No big new tooling announcements -- there haven't been nearly as many of those this year as last year, for sure -- but I would guess that those SW1500s in particular are going to make a lot of people happy. :) Crowd-pleasing roadnames, undecs, working Cullen beacons on the BNs, and I even think ground lights? Pretty cool.

They did say, both on Facebook and I think in the video, that the announcements wouldn't be posted to the website until after the weekend, but the stuff was announced and is happening.

Must have been nice as if it was my week on tow truck duty after working my eight M-F work went on. And mechanics usually didnt have the day off after anything so some years had at least the day fully off and weekend following.
