EMD Corp. made models too
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Some pretty nice detail work if you can zoom in on the innards.

Check out the raw materials laying in the floor under the engine stand

I assume an E unit of some flavor ?

There used to be some great Diesel models in the Smithsonian transportation exhibit building. I( wonder if they were made by EMD.
Haven't been there in about 57 years, so memory is a little fuzzy.

Yes, there was a great large scale model of an E8 in the blue and silver demonstrator colors that I believe did come from EMD. IIRC there were no side panels on one side so the truss framing and all interior components were visible. Here is a photo of it: https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_843751

The Smithsonian also has EMD models of the FT 103, Reading GP30 5514 and CNJ 1000 (obviously not an EMD). Apparently some or all of these are currently displayed at the B&O Transportation Museum in Baltimore.

The model in this photo looks like an EA, probably Santa Fe or B&O. Would love to see the finished product!

You mean besides the pilot, trucks, draft gear, steps ... ? Nope, nothing missing that I can see! :-)

I would say it appears to be 1" scale.

I suppose the framework was just like the real thing?

Well, it was a "cut-away" display model.
