Model Railroading > BNSF Business cars 2022Date: 09/29/22 08:39 BNSF Business cars 2022 Author: original Does anyone have a roster of the current BNSF business fleet with the lineage of each car (where they came from, original configuration) ?
I think there are 32 active cars in the Business car fleet. We are trying to see if there is a market for these cars and how many types will have to be drawn. The CSX cars just got repainted in a B&O style livery, and the NS cars would look great behind the OMI F units or Athearn SD60Es.

Those are removable ends on those cars. They can usually be installed or removed in an hour or two. Usually used when the car is not at the rear of the train. it was an optional install and easily removed see page 160 of the "Business and Special Purpose Cars" , published by the SFRH&TS original Date: 09/29/22 12:36 Re: BNSF Business cars 2022 Author: mcdeo I don't have a complete list, but here are some references:

Date: 09/29/22 13:57 Re: BNSF Business cars 2022 Author: TomG One car that isn't on the lists is DZ dome obs Silver Veranda. BNsf rebuilt it into BNsf 35 Canyon View. This is a good candidate cause you can also do it in its CB&Q DZ version since it hasnt been reproduced.

How well do you know the BNSF fleet ? BNSF lists the car origin as ATSF and I agree it's a DZ car (CB&Q) This is why I am asking for help - BNSF does not know the origins of lots of their cars Fred Date: 09/29/22 16:05 Re: BNSF Business cars 2022 Author: TomG Fred I'm sorry that I can't be more help, I'm not much of a BNSF fan, more of a Zephyr fan. It is definitely a CB&Q car, only 2 Budd cars of its type were Silver Varanda and Silver Chateau and I believe the Chateau was wrecked in the late 70s. So outside of this car I can't help you very much.

While both series cars were blunt end cars, the dome was in the forward third of the car instead of to the rear of the car like the Veranda. Date: 09/29/22 21:44 Re: BNSF Business cars 2022 Author: TomG I was mistaken, Shoreham Shops did do the Silver Veranda some time ago. Would be nice for a better model.

RIP the Silver Chateau, thanks for pointing that out, DZ cars were my all time favorites!
