Model Railroading > HO scale ( which decoder do I want )Date: 11/17/22 21:28 HO scale ( which decoder do I want ) Author: Highhood Need to go dcc on a number of kato ( 8 pin ) units.
Which decoder ( non sound ) with back emf do I use ? Or do all decoders have back emf? TIA for your responses. Jon Fink Schenectady, NY Date: 11/18/22 05:44 Re: HO scale ( which decoder do I want ) Author: WrongWayMurphy There is no one answer for all Kato lokies.
Most have the back EMF feature, but not all. Use this decoder selector for NCE decoders. If you want another brand such as Digitrax or TCS, well you can search for their decoder selector. It took me 5 seconds to come up with this one by searching "NCE decoder selector" https://www.ncedcc.com/decoder-selector-tool Date: 11/18/22 07:52 Re: HO scale ( which decoder do I want ) Author: stevenlsilva Digatrax 165IP if unit has no ditch lights

I'd run with TCS decoers, and a DP2X (2 Function) or DP5 (5 Function) will drop right into your 8 pin socket on the motorboard of the Kato locomotive. Alternative would be a T4X (4 Function) and then use an adaptor hardness to go from the 9 pin JST plug to the 8 Pin (Such as a T-1 or T-3.5 harness). I've been running TCS decoders for almost 18 years, and have found them very good. Great slow speed motor control. Have a look at tcsdcc.com. Good luck. Allister New Zealand. |
