Believe that was the “heavy” red stripe to signify the trailer could be carried piggyback and was used mid to late 70’s. They then used a thin red or yellow stripe from the late 70’s to late 80’s / early 90’s to signify piggyback, and yellow meant something in addition but cannot recall what the was.

Hopefully others have a better date range, would say ‘75-‘80 probably works.

The TK Models metal kit of the 40' drop-frame trailer was introduced around 1982, indicating that the prototype was around some years before. It was one of the first UPS trailer models.
It's problem was it was so heavy, it would tip over your piggyback cars.

Yellow stripe indicated the presence of a pintle hook out back, allowing for a dolly to hitch up for a second trailer behind. This was legal in some states. Red = no pintle hook.
