Model Railroading > Joined a New ClubDate: 02/05/23 00:24 Joined a New Club Author: funnelfan I joined the Caldwell Model Railroad Club in Caldwell, ID yesterday. They have a nice HO scale layout which is double track mainlines on two levels with a helix on one end and a lengthy climb on the other end. Lots of potential for operations which is starting to be organized. The club is young having bought the building they are in back in 2010. Parts of the layout are still under construction, but the majority of the layout is scenicked. There are some branchlines as well. Still learning the locations and routes on the layout. I took these photos before things got busy, and they did get very busy on this open run day.
https://www.facebook.com/CMRCHS 1. Port of Lewiston on the lower level next to the lower staging yard. 2. Nampa Yard with the 1925 built Depot. The depot was opened with the opening of the Boise Cutoff, but razed in the mid 1980's. The earlier built stone depot still survives. 3. Nampa Roundhouse and turntable. The clear roof is to show off the interior detail. Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/05/23 00:40 by funnelfan. Date: 02/05/23 00:26 Re: Joined a New Club Author: funnelfan 4. Diesel shop and service tracks on the lower level.
5. Huge Simplot plant in Caldwell, matching the prototype industry just outside of town. 6. Silverwood Amusement Park. Model of the original Boise depot in downtown Boise before the Boise Cutoff was built with it's more modern depot on the bluff above downtown. This is where the mainlines start the climb to the upper level, and is the ruling grade on the layout.
8. "Half Moon Trestle" on the climb from the lower level to the upper level. Branchline down low. 9. Burke, ID with the famous hotel spanning the branchline, part of the Silver Valley mining district. Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Date: 02/05/23 00:31 Re: Joined a New Club Author: funnelfan 10. Up in the Mountains above Burke.
11. Cabarton on the middle level and Falcon on the branch on the lowest level. 12. Sawmill at Cascade on the upper level. Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Date: 02/05/23 00:33 Re: Joined a New Club Author: funnelfan 13. Forest Service is mopping up a forest fire near the camp on the logging line.
14. Grain elevator complex at Moscow on the upper level. 15. Sawmill at the east end of Moscow with a trestle on the logging line above. Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Date: 02/05/23 00:36 Re: Joined a New Club Author: funnelfan 16. Cement Plant at Mountain Home on the upper level. F4 fighter jet has just taken off from the nearby Air Force Base.
17. Cement Plant at Mountain Home on the upper level. 18. Passenger train leaving the upper level staging at King Hill (top of the helix). Plus there is a nice sprinkling of the Union Pacific displayed.
