Model Railroading > Walther chiphopper disasterDate: 05/15/23 16:10 Walther chiphopper disaster Author: Frisco1971 when I called and talked with a major sale rep this
morning. She assured me that she would address the issue about the Family Lines chiphopper disaster and have her manger call me to talk about........ Well, guess what...........NO return phone call.....I guess Walthers doesn't care about us modelers in the Southeast. I am sure had the cars been for PRR or Santa Fe CSXT ... I would heard back from them...... I guess we will hafe to wait another 4 years again....... Date: 05/16/23 04:15 Re: not a disaster Author: Typhoon Frisco1971 Wrote:

Date: 05/16/23 06:51 Re: Walther chiphopper disaster Author: JDLX This thread is a continuation of another post from a day or two ago about Walthers stiffing his order. Appears Walthers simply misjudged market demand for the SCL road name and apparently left a lot of preorders unfilled.

Date: 05/16/23 08:46 Re: Walther chiphopper disaster Author: ln844south L&N ha a large fleet of these large Chiphoppers. A few early ones were by Greenville, with the rest by Ortner. Greenville cars make a nice stand in for the Ortner. If they ever did the L&N in different numbers would be nice and I would need several. I pulled a lot of these cars in NW Florida and South Alabama.

Lombard literyall sold out of all of the others the day they listed them on their website. This is why preordering is important.
As far as you getting stiffed by your dealer, are you 100% sure you gave them the correct SKU's and specified your amount you wanted? Just seems odd that you only recieved one car but almost eveyone else recieved everything they ordered. Date: 05/16/23 11:51 Re: Walther chiphopper disaster Author: dh30973 tuxedorailfan Wrote:

This would not be the first time a shop screwed up and blamed Walthers. Date: 05/16/23 13:13 Re: Walther chiphopper disaster Author: NMlurker Purely out of spite! My box just arrived from Lombard. The other one I got was the Meridian & Bigbee. This was my first ever pre-order through Lombard and it worked flawlessly.

Recieved all 10 of my cars. I think he was asking the OP of this thread. Date: 05/17/23 22:52 Re: Walther chiphopper disaster Author: funnelfan Well you would think that Walthers would make at least enough cars to fill the pre-orders plus some margin of extras. I would definately call Walthers and try to get the story straight from them. Also, did you pre-order the cars before the ordering deadline, or pre-order after the deadline in hopes there would be enough extras to fill your order?
