Model Railroading > Interesting HO traction layout @ LA Union Station Train festival

My brother (WP921 here on TO) and I attended the Los Angeles Union Station Train Festival today, riding in on a Metrolink commuter train.  After checking out the full-size trains up on the platform, we toured the various layouts set up in the old ticketing area near the entrance of the station.  There were 2 HO, as well as an N scale and a massive Z scale layout. 

One of the HO layouts was a modular traction layout, a cityscape that featured older cars and motors as well as a newer LAMTA scratchbuilt car, looking like the latest 1000-series for the Gold (L-line).  Very impressive layout and amazing that it's modular as the catenary seemed seamless.  They even had an LA subway station that was visible from a window on the side, with another scratchbuilt LA subway car set.

Traction is fascinating. It hasn't been until the last ten years or so that I've become interested in It. My loss. Thanks for sharing.

This traction layout was impressive.  The mobility of the catenary on this modular layout must be challenging to deal with as it is quite extensive.  Regarding the Z Scale layout, it was indeed massive.

Looks like a nicely done layout!
