Model Railroading > Class One Modern Transformer on a Walthers flatDate: 09/11/23 15:38 Class One Modern Transformer on a Walthers flat Author: MrMRL Swapped out my older Walthers transformer load on my Walthers QTTX depressed center flat car with one of the just released (and already out of stock) modern transformers from Class One Model Works. The load comes assembled and primered. I added a few bits of extra color here and there, and gave the load a very light grungy wash. I also removed and lowered the upper mounting brackets on either side, they were just nicking the top corners of some of the bridges and tunnels around the club layout. A few thin styrene squares were added over the old mounting points up top. The load is secured to the car with two strips of double-stick tape and four wires on each corner. The load comes with 10 (4" long) wires.

But folks with close clearances or tight curves be warned... this is a large load! ~ Mr. MRL Date: 09/12/23 04:44 Re: Class One Modern Transformer on a Walthers flat Author: march_hare When we say "modern", just how modern is this?
I model the 70s-era D&H, where oversized electric loads were commonplace.* Is this critter too modern for that? I don't know the spotting features for machinery like this. * D&H served the GE Plant in Schenectady, and the RR was originally built as a 6 foot gauge RR, so it had excellent clearances. Flat car loads like this showed up all the time* Date: 09/12/23 14:57 Re: Class One Modern Transformer on a Walthers flat Author: nydepot I wrote ClassOne and this is the one you want. I'm early 80s.
