Fast 60’s On The Loose. (With Friends)
Author: ChrisCampi

A while back, ATSF90East posted some great renders of a GP60.

https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,5735937

Which inspired me to dust off a Walthers trio i had that had been stagnant for quite some time. The units are dated sound quality wise and could stand new speakers, keep alives and maybe Tsunami 2's  /Blunami's over the original Tsunami's. But so what. Wheels were cleaned, bodies dusted off and I set them loose with a few cans destined for the local trans load facility.

The little train is moving faster then I normally operate. The Road master has granted special permissions for this run, and the train encounters some friends along the way.

I don't know how well this is going to go, as generally videos don't do so well here on TO view wise for whatever reasons, but I had fun fooling around with my IPhone 13. Hope you find something to enjoy.

Everything is a work in progress. :-)

Chris

Very nice series of videos.  Enjoyed all of the motive power.  Lots of great units with SP specific details.  SP 8819 caught my eye, from the railroad's first order of SD45's, delivered in 1966 (no L-shaped windshield).  The first video features a short steep grade to add to the variety.  Thanks for posting.

Thanks Chris, I also enjoy videoing models as well with my iPhone. Good way to share your work. I agree, slower speeds are better for videos. We all have works in progress in model railroading. Keeps us coming back to finish them !

Same. Liked #3 for the late 70s looking train with two SD40T-2s and 45!

Jim

Thanks to all for commenting.

WP921 appreciate you noticing the short grade in that first video. I have mixed feelings about it. I wanted to model a new bridge span installed a few feet higher then the original span. It is not really very noticeable in person but really stands out in photos from this angle when zooming in. I've considered starting the grade further back, but then get into issues with the grade interfering with switching the cement plant. So things will stay as they are. Just another compromise we make in model railroading.

Truth be told, I still like it even though I've deleted more then a few photos because of it. :-)

Looks cool to me. I have often wondered how people make undulating trackwork on a model railroad without it looking too drastic.

I went back and doubled checked mine. It's 3.5 feet over two hundred feet so 1.75 percent.
