Model Railroading > Nice kitbash from yesterdays op sessionDate: 04/14/24 07:38 Nice kitbash from yesterdays op session Author: WrongWayMurphy 8 of us Texans went to Shreveport yesterday for an all day op session.
More on that in a day or two, but this kitbash really caught my eye. Not sure what the basis for the kit(s) is but the builder did a excellent job. Espee train was one of many road switch jobs I took across the pike. Date: 04/14/24 08:58 Re: Nice kitbash from yesterdays op session Author: DynamicBrake Very nice detailed layout. Anyone know where the word "pike" originated?

Here's an old discussion about that: the word "pike" - Model Railroader Magazine - Model Railroading, Model Trains, Reviews, Track Plans, and Forums Growing up in the fifties and sixties, I remember the use of "pike" in the model railroad press. Even as a young kid, I thought its use was a bit pretentious. Apparently "turnpike" and "pike" had historical usage in the 19th Century referring to railways. I suspect the word had British origins, but I can't say for sure. Date: 04/14/24 10:00 Re: Nice kitbash from yesterdays op session Author: Bscale316 Also effective "flats" in the backdrop. Very nice.

I love seeing old kits turned into something so much more. -Jason Date: 04/14/24 14:35 Re: Nice kitbash from yesterdays op session Author: ChrisCampi Agree it looks terrific. Almost as good as the pavement, which is outstanding work.

The silver stovepipe is from the Revell kit too. My dog ate my homework (trainorders.com) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/17/24 16:02 by wingomann. |
